Illness, Somedays Gallery 2007
‘Illness’, was the first exhibition of Erin’s Work in Sydney and took place at the Somedays store and gallery space in Surry Hills.
Inspired by her first twelve months of residence in Sydney, “Illness” was part whimsical folk/dead street and part social commentary, with Forsyth combining notes on scene culture, quarter life crises and the mundane. Visual interests in grimy walls, Heironymous Bosch, children’s book illustration and religious iconography were joined to create work unsettling in tone but charmingly detailed in appearance.
With painted works in aerosol, acrylic and also black and white illustration ‘Illness’ drew the viewer in and involved; building a rapport between the fictional and real life modern ills.
